Located near the community of Point Michaud, Richmond County, this nature reserve primarily consists of bogs and poorly drained black spruce dominated forest. The bogs host rare wetland plants such as New Jersey rush.

The nature reserve contains two parts, an interior parcel northeast of the community and a smaller coastal parcel at Colins Point. It does not include the nearby headland, known as Point Michaud.
