Bear Gall Seal Registration

Who Needs This Seal?
Any person who wants to sell in Nova Scotia or export from Nova Scotia a bear gallbladder.

Note: It is an offence to sell or export a bear gallbladder in / from Nova Scotia that has not been officially sealed.

Any of the Local or Area Offices of the N.S. Department of Natural Resources. (See Offices, N.S. Department of Natural Resources.)
Application Forms & Process:
An applicant must bring the bear gallbladder (cleaned and frozen or dried) to the office of the NS Department of Natural Resources where their hunting or snaring licence was issued.

The hunting or snaring licence, under which the bear was taken, must be presented. The gallbladder will be inspected and weighed. The information will be recorded at this time and the seal will be secured to the gallbladder.

This registration does not expire.

Price: (HST is not included)
Registration:  $6.22 plus HST
Related Requirements:
  1. The applicant must present the hunting or snaring licence under which the bear was taken.

  2. The seal will not be issued if the hunter's report card and the jaw of the bear (needed for tooth extraction) are not submitted as required by the Bear Harvesting Regulations.
Additional Information:
When presented at the Area Office of the Department of Natural Resources, the gallbladder must be clean and either properly dried or frozen.
