MacDonalds Pond Nature Reserve protects mixed deciduous-conifer forest, cobble and sand beach, and small barrachois ponds, along 2 km of undeveloped shoreline on Whycocomagh Bay, Bras d’Or Lake.
The reserve lies adjacent to a lagoon and provides excellent habitat for waterfowl and shorebirds. It also offers opportunities for sea kayaking, boating, bird watching, beachcombing and other activities.
