Small climax forest; one imperiled non-vascular plant species and one species of reptile/amphibian that is vulnerable to extirpation or extinction within the park

Regionally and locally significant; serves high population area; near Highway 102; one of few provincial day-use parks on freshwater lake near metro Halifax/Dartmouth; offers lake access, picnicking, walking trails; on Shubenacadie Canal system; close to Laurie Provincial Park
