Large coastal property with significant conservation values and outdoor recreation potentials. Proposed expansion of park boundary to include islands and coastal frontage will enhance this property’s protection and recreation values.

Protection Values

Significant wildlife habitat; significant coastal forest; extensive coastal frontage.  One of few forested Crown coastal properties in area.  Important contribution to Hubley – Big Lake Crown block. Identified by Nova Scotia Department of Environment as part of a larger block of land (Patch # 39) that could contribute to the Province’s goal of protecting 12% of the land base by 2015.  Province expropriated this property about 1968 to protect the Peggys Cove Preservation Area and approaches from inappropriate development.
