Several additions to Cloud Lake Wilderness Area including a large forest and river tract along the Nictaux River

Ecological Values

Large intact habitat patch

Improves landscape representation of South Mountain Rolling Plain Natural Landscape

Povides habitat for several species of rare plants including provincially vulnerable eastern white cedar

Includes long stretch of upper Nictaux River

Many mature forest stands with red spruce, yellow birch, white pine, and hardwood

Outdoor Recreation Values

Encompasses the lower 8 km of the Nictaux River wilderness canoe route

Backcountry recreation opportunities enhanced with easy access from Route 10 and South Shore - Annapolis Valley Rail Trail

Connects Shell Camp Stream to upper reaches of LaHave River canoe route

Enhances wilderness setting of Frog Lake and Cloud Lake

Hiking, hunting, and fishing

Forestry Values

Mix of mature hardwood, mixedwood, and softwood
