Description
On June 18, 2004, Mark-Lyn Construction Limited submitted an Environmental Assessment Registration Document for a proposed Soil / Peat and Aggregate Operation.
The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to extend soil / peat and aggregate resources from properties East of the South Bishop Board in Coldbrook for the manufacture of top-soil products for use in gardening and landscaping. The project is scheduled to start July 2004.
In April of 2005, Department of Environment and Climate Change contracted a consultant to conduct a hydrological study
(PDF:1.5mb) at the Baltzers Bog site. The study is available for public review and will be considered by the Minister when making a future decision on the project.
Minister's Decision
On July 13, 2004, the Minister of Environment and Labour released a decision (PDF:328k) concerning this review.
The Minister has determined that the registration information is insufficient to make a decision on the project, and additional information is required in accordance with Section 13(1)a of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.
