Pubnico Point Wind Farm

Description

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to develop a 17 turbine wind farm on the southern portion of Pubnico Point, West Pubnico, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia which will generate approximately 100,000,000 kW/hr of electricity annually, enough to power 10,000-13,000 average Canadian homes per year. The power will be sold to Nova Scotia Power Inc. (NSPI).

Minister's Decision

On November 7, 2003, the Minister of Environment and Labour released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:19k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.

The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditionsPDF Download Link (PDF:14k). The proponent is required to obtain all other necessary approvals, permits or authorizations before commencing work on the undertaking.
