Lafarge Hardscratch Quarry Extension Project

Description

This is to advise that on October 22, 2013, Lafarge Canada Inc. registered the Lafarge Hardscratch Quarry Extension Project for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to extend the existing approved Lafarge quarry site along Hardscratch Road in Brooklyn, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. The extended quarry will occupy an additional 65 ha of land, of which approximately 42 ha will support quarrying activities, thereby allowing for continued aggregate production for use in local construction projects and asphalt production.
