Hardscratch Quarry Extension Project

Description

This is to advise that Aberdeen Paving Limited's proposed Hardscratch Quarry Expansion Project located at or near, Yarmouth, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia, will be registered for environmental assessment on July 6, 2010, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to extend the existing approved quarry site to allow for continued aggregate production for local construction needs. Proposed quarry activities (i.e. production levels, blasting and truck traffic) will be consistent with current quarry operations.

Minister's Decision

On August 25, 2010 the Minister of Environment released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:110k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.
