Ellershouse Wind Farm Expansion

Description

This is to advise that on January 25, 2017 the Alternative Resource Energy Authority registered an Addendum to the proposed Ellershouse Wind Farm Expansion for environmental assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

On January 13, 2017, the Minister of Environment determined that the Registration information was insufficient to make a decision on the Project and that additional information is required. The Proponent must provide information regarding sound level modelling and archaeological resources.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to construct and operate a 16.4 MW expansion of the existing Ellershouse Wind Farm on lands located in the community of Ellershouse, approximately 11 km southeast of Windsor, Nova Scotia in the Municipality of the District of West Hants. Pending approval to proceed, construction is anticipated to commence mid 2017 with operations to begin in 2018.

Minister's Decision

On February 2, 2017 the Minister of Environment released a decision concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act. The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditions.
