Asbestos Disposal Facility

Description

This is to advise that on October 10, 2018, the Yarmouth County Solid Waste Management Authority (YCSWMA) registered an Asbestos Disposal Facility for Environmental Assessment, in accordance with Part IV of the Environment Act.

The purpose of the proposed undertaking is to expand the existing Asbestos Disposal Facility by constructing a new Asbestos Disposal Cell at the existing Municipal Solid Waste Management Park located at 1936 Hardscratch Road, South Ohio, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. The new cell will be approximately 1 hectare in size. Construction is expected to start in late Fall 2018 and will take approximately two months to complete. The expansion will allow YCSWMA to continue to accept asbestos waste in a regulated facility from local demolition projects for approximately 20 to 25 years.
