Bulk Tank Farm, Blending, Packaging and Storage Facility

Description

On November 19, 2004, Alpha Chemical Ltd. submitted an addendum in response to the Minister's request for additional information regarding this project.

On July 26, 2004, Alpha Chemical Ltd. submitted an Environmental Assessment Registration Document for the proposed Bulk Tank Farm, Blending, Packaging and Storage Facility, Waverley, Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia.

The purpose of the proposed project is to construct a bulk storage, handling, blending and packaging facility for products sold to the Offshore Oil and Gas sector. A facility engaged in the production, wholesale storage or wholesale distribution of dangerous goods is defined as a Class 1 undertaking under the Environmental Assessment Regulations.

Minister's Decision

On December 14, 2004, the Minister of Environment and Labour released a decisionPDF Download Link (PDF:21k) concerning this review. The Minister has decided to approve the undertaking in accordance with Section 13(1)b of the Environmental Assessment Regulations, pursuant to Part IV of the Environment Act.

The undertaking has been approved subject to a number of conditionsPDF Download Link (PDF:20k). The proponent is required to obtain all other necessary approvals, permits or authorizations before commencing work on the undertaking.
