Schedule “A”: Addition to Jerry Lawrence Provincial Park



 


O.I.C. 76-840

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 28th day of June, A.D., 1976, and pursuant to Section 2 of Chapter 244 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Provincial Parks Act, is pleased to:

 

                   (a)      constitute all that area of land including land covered with water owned by Her Majesty in right of the Province of Nova Scotia, situate at or near Lewis Lake, in the County of Halifax, Province of Nova Scotia, to be a Provincial Park, said area of land being described in Schedule “A” and shown on Schedule “B”, both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation; and

 

                   (b)     declare that the park shall be known as “Lewis Lake Provincial Park”.



Schedule “A”—Lewis Lake Provincial Park


All that certain parcel, piece or lot of land situated, lying and being at or near Lewis Lake, County of Halifax, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown on Plan No. E-5-48, recorded in the Crown Land Registry office, Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax, and being more particularly described as follows:


Beginning at Crown Land Wooden Post (C.L.W.P.) No. 1090 set on the northern boundary line of Highway No. 3 leading from Chester to Halifax and the southeastern boundary line of lands now or formerly of Geo. & W. H. Mailing;


From thence on a magnetic (1946) bearing N 24° 25' E, along the said Mailing lands, a distance of 722.7 feet to C.L.W.P. No. 1089;


Thence N 84° 45' W along the said Mailing lands, a distance of 976.8 feet to C.L.W.P. No. 1088;


Thence N 59° 20' E along the said Mailing lands, a distance of 830.9 feet to C.L.W.P. No. 1087;


Thence N 31° 45' W along the said Mailing lands, a distance of 583 feet more or less to C.L.W.P. No. 1086A;


Thence N 56° 00' E along the said Mailing lands a distance of 970 feet more or less to the southwestern boundary line of the Canadian National Railway, leading to Halifax;


Thence in an easterly and southerly direction, along the southern and westerly boundary line of the said Canadian National Railway, a distance of 8700 feet more or less to the northeastern boundary line of land now or formerly of H. Sorette;


Thence N 42° 00' W, along the said northeastern boundary, a distance of 680 feet more or less to C.L.I.P. No. 1424;


Thence S 47° 50' W, along the northwestern boundary of lands now or formerly of H. Sorette, a distance of 39.6 feet to C.L.I.P. No. 1425 on the eastern shore of Lewis Lake;


Thence in a northerly, westerly, southerly and easterly direction along the many courses of the shore of Lewis Lake, a distance of 5850 feet more or less to the point where the said shore meets the northern boundary line of the said Highway leading from Chester to Halifax;


Thence in a westerly, northerly and westerly direction along the many courses of the northern boundary line of the said Highway leading from Chester to Halifax, a distance of 5500 feet more or less to the point of beginning. The said parcel, piece or lot of land contains an area of 370 acres more or less.

O.I.C. 2024-67

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables dated December 21, 2023, and pursuant to clauses 8(a) and (b) of Chapter 367 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Provincial Parks Act, is pleased, effective on and after February 13, 2024, to

 

(a)      increase the size of the Jerry Lawrence Provincial Park, N.S. Reg. 160/1976, originally designated by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 76-840 dated July 13, 1976, by adding existing Crown lands in Halifax County currently identified as PIDs 40226300, 41535964, 41535980, 41535972 and 41535956 as shown outlined in bold and shaded dark grey on the plan marked Schedule “A” attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation; and

 

(b)      authorize the Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables to execute such documents as may be necessary to achieve the purposes of this Order.
