Nova Scotia Egg Producersí Composition of Marketing Board Regulations

made under Sections 9 and 11 of the
Natural Products Act

1.01 For the purpose of this regulation

(a) "Board" means the Nova Scotia Egg Producers;

(b) the Province shall be divided into four zones designated as follows:

(i) "Eastern" which comprises the counties of Inverness, Richmond, Cape Breton, Victoria, Antigonish and Guysborough,

(ii) "Central" which comprises the counties of Pictou, Cumberland, Colchester, Halifax and Hants,

(iii) "Western" which comprises the counties of Kings and Annapolis,

(iv) "Southern" which comprises the counties of Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne, Yarmouth and Digby;

(c) notwithstanding subsection (b) hereof, a producer who resides in a county which borders on a zone different from the zone in which that county is situate may affiliate himself with the neighbouring zone and shall be eligible for election from that zone.

1.02 The Board shall consist of nine persons elected or appointed as follows, that is to say:

(a) eight egg producers comprising two egg producers elected or appointed by members of the Nova Scotia Egg and Pullet Producers' Association in each of the four zones defined in Section 1.01 hereof;

(b) one pullet producer elected or appointed by or from the Nova Scotia Pullet Producers' Association;

(c) of the eight egg producers elected or appointed pursuant to subsection (a) hereof, six must own or operate or represent firms which own or operate facilities entitled to house at least 5,000 laying hens and the Nova Scotia Egg & Pullet Producers' Association shall be entitled to hold new elections to satisfy this requirement if it is not met in the first round of elections.

1.03 (a) The term of office of each member of the Board shall be three years;

(b) notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) hereof, a producer shall be eligible for re-election or re-appointment to the Board upon the expiry of any such three year term.
