Petersfield Provincial Park Designation

made under Section 8 of the

Provincial Parks Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 367

O.I.C. 84-1301 (November 13, 1984), N.S. Reg. 269/84


The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 9th day of October, A.D., 1984, pursuant to Section 2 of Chapter 244 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1967, the Provincial Parks Act, is pleased to

 

       (a)    constitute all that area of land situate at Point Edward, in the County of Cape Breton, owned by Her Majesty the Queen in right of the Province of Nova Scotia, to be a Provincial Park, the said area of land being described in Schedule “A” and shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Lands Records Plan No. P-097/84 marked Schedule “B”, both Schedules attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation; and

 

       (b)    declare that the Park shall be known by the name “Petersfield Provincial Park”.



Schedule “A”


All that certain area or tract of land situate, lying and being at Point Edward, County of Cape Breton, Province of Nova Scotia, said area or tract of land being shown on plan number P-097/84 on file in the Surveys Division Office of the Department of Lands and Forests, Halifax and said area or tract of land being more particularly described as follows:


Beginning at a Survey Marker situated at the point of intersection formed by the northerly boundary of the Point Edward - Westmount Highway with the northwesterly boundary of lands formerly owned by H.E.S. Thompson, said point of beginning also being (by grid bearings based on the Nova Scotia Modified Transverse Mercator Projection, Zone 4, Central Meridian 61° 31' west longitude) N 61° 33' 28" W, 323.63 feet from Nova Scotia Coordinate Monument Number 1415;


From thence following the northerly boundary of the Point Edward-Westmount Highway in a northwesterly direction 312.24 feet along the arc of a curve to the right having a radius of 1492.70 feet, to a Survey Marker situated at the end of curve, said Survey Marker being N 75° 31' 15" W, 311.65 feet from the aforedescribed point of beginning;


Thence continuing to follow the northerly boundary of the Point Edward-Westmount Highway N 69° 31' 42" W, 750.96 feet to a Survey Marker situated on the easterly boundary of lands now or formerly of Cape Breton Development Corporation;


Thence N 58° 55' 23" E, 1267.90 feet following the said easterly boundary of lands now or formerly of Cape Breton Development Corporation to a Survey Marker;


Thence continuing to follow the easterly boundary of lands now or formerly of Cape Breton Development Corporation N 04° 16' 48"E, 568.73 feet to a point on the southeasterly boundary of Crawleys Creek;


Thence in a generally easterly, northeasterly, northerly, northwesterly, and northerly direction following the sinuosities of the southeasterly and easterly boundary of Crawleys Creek, said boundary being more specifically described by the following traverse courses:


N 78° 53' 23" E, 10.46 feet to a point;

N 89° 58' 03" E, 69.6 feet to a point;

N 27° 02' 02" E, 57.8 feet to a point;

N 28° 13' 29" E, 82.3 feet to a point;

N 21° 39' 22" W, 407.5 feet to a point;

N 34° 40' 57" W, 190.3 feet to a point;

N 70° 41' 52" W, 53.3 feet to a point;

N 41° 12' 45" W, 34.5 feet to a point;

N 19° 54' 36" E, 67.6 feet to a point;

N 39° 11' 30" E, 64.6 feet to a point;

N 30° 12' 26" E, 205.4 feet to a point;

N 22° 44' 03" E, 57.4 feet to a point,


situated at the northern most tip of Amelia Point, being also a point of intersection with the southwesterly boundary of South Arm Sydney Harbour;


Thence in a generally southeasterly direction following the sinuosities of the said southwesterly boundary of South Arm Sydney Harbour, said boundary being more specifically described by the following traverse courses:


S 85° 38' 57" E, 65.5 feet to a point;

S 58° 27' 30" E, 96.8 feet to a point;

S 69° 06' 08" E, 232.2 feet to a point;

S 18° 26' 16" E, 99.4 feet to a point;

S 49° 52' 15" E, 333.7 feet to a point;

S 25° 59' 27" E, 166.5 feet to a point;

S 07° 36' 47" E, 180.8 feet to a point;

S 38° 56' 59" E, 274.9 feet to a point;

S 44° 57' 49" E, 512.3 feet to a point;

S 57° 47' 43" E, 111.9 feet to a point,


said point being on the northwesterly boundary of lands formerly owned by H.E.S. Thompson;


Thence following the northwesterly boundary of lands formerly owned by H.E.S. Thompson S 50° 44' 05" W, 693.06 feet to a Survey Marker;


Thence continuing to follow the northwesterly boundary of lands formerly owned by H. E. S. Thompson S 51° 58' 36" W, 152.2 feet to a point;


Thence continuing to follow the northwesterly boundary of lands formerly owned by H.E.S. Thompson S 52° 04' 00" W, 399.14 feet to a point;


Thence continuing to follow the northwesterly boundary of lands formerly owned by H.E.S. Thompson S 51° 25' 26" W, 329.10 feet to a point;


Thence continuing to follow the northwesterly boundary of lands formerly owned by H.E.S. Thompson S 51° 54' 32" W, 349.40 feet to the place of beginning containing 56.516 acres more or less.


The above described lands being and intended to be the same lands conveyed to Her Majesty the Queen in the Right of Her Province of Nova Scotia from Cape Breton Development Corporation on the 5th day of November, A.D., 1981 and recorded in the Registry of Deeds Office at Sydney in Book 1300 Page 344.
