Ragged Head-Port Shoreham Beach Designation

made under subsection 5(1) of the

Beaches Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 32

The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Lands and Forests dated the 18th day of June, A.D., 1979, pursuant to Section 5(1) of Chapter 6 of the Statutes of Nova Scotia 1975, the Beaches Preservation and Protection Act, is pleased to designate as a beach an area of land lying landward from the mean high water mark of Ragged Head-Port Shoreham Beach, in the County of Guysborough, Province of Nova Scotia, as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-10-75 marked Schedule “B” and described in Schedule “A” both attached to and forming part of the report and recommendation.



Schedule “A”


All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land lying landward from the mean high water mark of Ragged Head-Port Shoreham Beach, in the County of Guysborough, Province of Nova Scotia as shown outlined in red on the copy of Crown Land Records Office Plan No. E-10-75 and being more particularly described as follows:


Beginning at Crown Post No. 8467, situate where the easterly boundary of lands of Mrs. Margaret Carter meets the southerly shoreline of Ragged Pond;


From thence (by astronomic bearings) north twenty-five degrees fifty-five minutes west along the said easterly boundary of Mrs. Margaret Carter lands one hundred feet to a point;


Thence north forty-seven degrees fifty-five minutes east, a distance of three thousand four hundred eleven feet, more or less, to a point;


Thence north sixty-four degrees twenty-one minutes east, a distance of one thousand three hundred forty feet, more or less, to a point;


Thence in a southerly direction a distance of one hundred feet to Iron Pin No. 9;


Thence south twenty-four degrees thirty-five minutes west, a distance of one hundred five decimal seventy-five feet to Iron Pin No. 10 situate on or near the mean high water mark of Chedebuto Bay;


Thence in a generally southwesterly direction along the mean high water mark of Chedabucto Bay twenty-nine thousand four hundred twenty-five feet, more or less, to Iron Pin No. 1;


Thence north seventy-six degrees thirty minutes west a distance of one hundred seventeen decimal fifty-nine feet to an Iron Pin No. 2;


Thence north sixteen degrees fifty-four minutes west, a distance of four hundred three decimal seventy-nine feet to Iron Pin No. 3;


Thence continuing north sixteen degrees fifty-four minutes west, a distance of one hundred eleven feet, more or less, to a point;


Thence north thirty-two degrees thirty-five minutes east, a distance of six thousand six hundred twenty feet, more or less, to a point situate on the northerly shore of Clam Pond;


Thence in an easterly direction along the northerly shore of Clam Pond one hundred fifty feet, more or less, to Iron Post No. 4;


Thence south eighty-seven degrees twenty minutes east, a distance of one thousand seven hundred five feet, more or less, to a point situate on the northerly boundary of vegetation of Moose Bay;


Thence in an easterly direction along the line of vegetation of Moose Bay three thousand nine hundred seventy-seven feet, more or less, to Iron Post No. 7;


Thence continuing in an easterly direction along the line of vegetation of Moose Bay one thousand two hundred thirty-five feet, more or less, to a point situate on the easterly boundary of lands of Earl Grady;


Thence north twenty-seven degrees thirty-three minutes west along the easterly boundary of the Grady lands three hundred seventy-one decimal thirty-eight feet to Iron Post No. 8465;


Thence south eighty-five degrees eight minutes east, a distance of five thousand seven hundred sixty-five decimal ninety-five feet to the place of beginning.
