July 16, 2019EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, MAY 2019 EURO AREA
In May 2019, the Euro Area (EA19) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a surplus of €23.0 billion.
- Euro Area (EA19) export values increased €13.5 billion (7.1 per cent) to €203.4 billion compared to May 2018.
- Euro Area (EA19) import values increased €7.4 billion (4.3 per cent) to €180.3 billion compared to May 2018.
In May 2019, it was also reported that intra-euro area trade increased 4.9 per cent to €172.0 billion compared to May 2018.
In May 2019, the Euro Area (EA19) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with Canada recorded a surplus of €1.3 billion.
In May 2019, the Euro Area (EA19) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United States recorded a surplus of €12.1 billion.
EUROPEAN UNION
In May 2019, the European Union (EU28) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a surplus of €7.8 billion.
- European Union (EU28) export values increased €17.2 billion (10.7 per cent) to €178.5 billion compared to May 2018.
- European Union (EU28) import values increased €9.8 billion (6.1 per cent) to €170.7 billion compared to May 2018.
In May 2019, it was also reported that intra-EU28 trade increased 3.5 per cent to €308.1 billion compared to May 2018.
In May 2019, the European Union (EU28) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with Canada recorded a surplus of €1.2 billion.
In May 2019, the European Union (EU28) goods trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United States recorded a surplus of €14.0 billion.
