NEW HOUSING PRICE INDEX, APRIL 2019

In Nova Scotia, the price of new housing remained unchanged in April 2019. The national index was also unchanged for the third consecutive month.

In Nova Scotia, new housing prices were 0.2 per cent higher than they were in April 2018. National new housing prices rose 0.1 per cent, year over year.                                  

Year to date, Nova Scotia new housing prices were up 0.7 per cent in the first four months of 2019.  National new housing prices were unchanged in January-April 2019 compared to January-April 2018.  Quebec saw the fastest growth in new housing prices at 1.9 per cent. The largest decline was in Saskatchewan where new housing prices fell 1.4 per cent compared to the first four months of 2018.

Census Metropolitan Areas

Year to date, price growth among Census Metropolitan Areas was fastest in Ottawa, London, Windsor and Montreal.  New housing prices declined the most in Regina, Toronto, and Oshawa.
