NEW MOTOR VEHICLE SALES, JANUARY-NOVEMBER 2017

In January-November 2017, Nova Scotia motor vehicle unit sales increased 8.9% over Jan-Nov 2016. The 55,797 new vehicles sold in January-November represented a value of $1.98 billion, up 13.6% compared with motor vehicle sales values from the same period in 2016.

In January-November 2017, Canadian unit sales increased 5.1 per cent over Jan-Nov 2016 to 1,949,236 units. January-November dollar sales were in positive territory, increasing 10.2 per cent over January-November 2016 to $78.1 billion.

In Nova Scotia January-November 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle sales value  increased 16.8% (80.8% share) over Jan-Nov 2016. Motor vehicle sales value of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 2.0% (19.2% share) over Jan-Nov 2016.




In Nova Scotia January-November 2017, North America manufactured motor vehicle unit sales increased 11.3% (78.9% share) over Jan-Nov 2016. Motor vehicle unit sales of vehicles manufactured in other countries increased 0.8% (21.1% share) over Jan-Nov 2016.

Average Prices

In January-November 2017, the average unit price in Canada increased 4.9% to $40,054 over Jan-Nov 2016.  In Nova Scotia, the average unit price increased 4.3% to $35,484 over the same period last year. 



 

 

Passenger Cars and Trucks

In January-November 2017, Nova Scotian passenger car unit sales increased 2.5 per cent over Jan-Nov 2016 to 19,762 units. January-November passenger car dollar sales increased 5.6 per cent over January-November 2016 to $525 million.

In January-November 2017, Nova Scotian truck unit sales increased 12.8 per cent over Jan-Nov 2016 to 36,035 units. January-November truck dollar sales increased 16.8 per cent over January-November 2016 to $1.5 billion.

The truck share of the sales value stands at 73.5%, and the unit sales volume stands at 64.6%

 



In Nova Scotia January-November 2017 the average unit price increased for trucks to $40,387 and increased for cars to $26,544 over Jan-Nov 2016.
