April 23, 2025NEW HOUSING PRICE INDEX, MARCH 2025 Monthly (March 2025 vs February 2025)

Nova Scotia new housing prices rose remained unchanged from February to March. Nationally the price of new houses also remained unchanged, with four provinces reporting declines. Prince Edward Island posted the largest decline and Manitoba posted the largest gain, with three provinces reporting no change month-over-month.
Year-over-year (March 2025 vs March 2024)
Nova Scotia’s new housing prices increased 5.2% from March 2024 to March 2025. Nationally, prices were up 0.1%.

New housing prices increased year-over-year in seven provinces, led by Nova Scotia. Prince Edward Island, Ontario and British Columbia reported declines, led by Ontario.

Halifax new home prices increased 5.2% year-over-year in March 2025. Among Census Metropolitan Areas, new housing prices were down year-over-year in thirteen cities, with London and Sherbrooke reporting the largest declines. Québec City and Halifax reported the largest year-over-year gains.

Year to date (January-March 2025 vs January-March 2024)
In the first three months of 2025, Nova Scotia's new housing price index is 3.9% higher compared to the same period in 2024. Nationally, new housing prices were up 0.1% year-to-date with gains in seven provinces, led by Nova Scotia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Year-to-date declines in new housing prices were lead by Ontario.

Halifax new housing prices were up 3.9% in January-March 2025 compared to January-March 2024. The fastest growth among CMAs was in Québec City and the fastest decline was in London.
