UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, DECEMBER 2024 - FEBRUARY 2025

The UK unemployment rate for the three-month period December 2024 to February 2025 was 4.4%, which was unchanged from the preceding 3 month period (September-November 2024).  From December 2023 to February 2024, the UK unemployment rate averaged 4.2%.  

There were 1.574 million unemployed people in the UK, 14,000 (+0.9%) more than than the preceding 3 month period and 114,000 (+7.8%) more than at the same time a year ago. Employment in the UK was at 33.996 million, 206,000 (+0.6%) more than the preceding 3 month period and 683,000 (+2.1%) more compared to a year earlier. UK labour force increased by 220,000 (+0.6%) from the preceding 3 month period and by 797,000 (+2.3%) over the past year, rising to 35.570 million.
