December 19, 2024EURO AREA CURRENT ACCOUNT, OCTOBER 2024 Month over month (October 2024 vs September 2024, seasonally adjusted)

The European Central Bank reported today that the Euro Area:
- Current account surplus narrowed by €13.0 billion to €25.8 billion
- Goods trade surplus narrowed by €2.4 billion to €29.6 billion
- Services trade surplus widened by €0.3 billion to €15.4 billion
- Primary income changed from a surpus to a deficit of €4.5 billion
- Secondary income deficit widened by €1.0 billion to €14.6 billion
Compared with the previous month the Euro Area's exports of goods decreased by 2.7% to €233.0 billion in the current month. Imports of goods decreased 1.9% to €203.4 billion.

Exports of services from the Euro Area decreased by 3.0% to €120.1 billion while imports of services to the Euro Area decreased 3.7% to €104.7 billion in October 2024.

Primary income receipts for the Euro Area decreased by 1.8% to €109.0 billion while payments increased by 7.6% to €113.5 billion in October 2024.

Secondary income receipts in the Euro Area increased by 4.6% to €15.8 billion while secondary income payments from the Euro Area increased by 6.0% to €30.5 billion.
