UK CURRENT ACCOUNT, 2023 Q3

Quarter vs quarter (Q3 2023 vs Q2 2023)

 

Compared to the previous quarter, the United Kingdom Office of National Statistics reported that the current account deficit narrowed by £6.8 billion to £17.2 billion.                   

  • Goods  deficit narrowed by £1.8 billion to £44.2 billion
  • Services surplus widened £0.7 billion to £39.1 billion
  • Primary income deficit narrowed by £4.3 billion to £7.1 billion
  • Secondary income deficit narrowed by £56 million to £5.0 billion

Goods exports decreased 5.8% (£5.8 billion) and imports of goods decreased 5.1% (£7.5 billion). As a result, the goods deficit narrowed by £1.8 billion to £44.2 billion.

Exports of services increased 2.0% (£2.4 billion) and imports of services increased 2.2% (£1.7 billion). As a result, the services surplus increased by £0.7 billion to £39.1 billion. 

Primary income receipts increased 7.2% (£6.6 billion) and primary income payments increased 2.2% (£2.3 billion). As a result, the primary income deficit narrowed by £4.3 billion to £7.1 billion.

Secondary income receipts decreased 3.6% (£288 million) and secondary income payments decreased 2.6% (£334 million). As a result, the secondary income deficit narrowed by £56 million to £5.0 billion.
