NEW HOUSING PRICE INDEX, NOVEMBER 2023

Monthly (November 2023 vs October 2023)

In Nova Scotia new housing prices were unchanged from the previous month in November 2023. There hasn't been a reported change in Nova Scotia's new housing prices since April 2023.  Nationally, prices declined a little more than 0.2% from October 2023. Seven provinces reported a decline in new housing prices. Newfoundland and Labrador reported the largest decline with no provinces reporting an increase in new house prices over the past month.

Year-over-year (November 2023 vs November 2022) 

Nova Scotia’s new housing prices declined 0.6% from November 2022. Nationally, prices were down 0.9%.

New housing prices increased in Newfoundland and Labrador, Québec and Alberta. Saskatchewan reported the largest year-over-year decline in new housing prices. New housing prices were unchanged year-over-year in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

Halifax new home prices declined 0.6% year-over-year in November 2023. New housing price growth among Census Metropolitan Areas was fastest in Québec City and Calgary. New housing prices declined year-over-year for 20 CMAs led by Ottawa. 

Year-to-date (January-November 2023 vs January-November 2022)

Nova Scotia new housing prices increased 0.6% on average through the first eleven months of the 2023. Nationally new housing prices edged down 0.2% with gains in six provinces. Newfoundland and Labrador and Québec had the largest increases while Saskatchewan reported the largest decline.

Halifax's new housing price index was up 0.6% for January-November 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. Eleven of the cities had growth with the fastest growth in Québec City and Calgary. New housing prices declined the most in Victoria.
