US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, OCTOBER 2023

Month over month October 2023 vs September 2023, seasonally adjusted annual rate)

The United States construction spending increased 0.6% to $2,027.1 billion.  Total residential construction increased 1.2% to $895.1 billion. Total non-residential construction spending increased 0.1% to $1,131.9 billion.

                                                                 

Private sector construction increased 0.7% to $1,579.3 billion. Private residential construction increased 1.2% to $884.4 billion, while private non-residential construction spending increased 0.1% to $694.8 billion.

Public sector construction increased 0.2% to $447.8 billion. Public residential construction increased 1.6% to $10.7 billion, while public non-residential construction spending increased 0.2% to $437.1 billion.

Year-to-date (January-October 2023 vs January-October 2022)

US construction spending was up 5.5%.

  • Total residential construction was down 7.5%
  • Total non-residential construction was up 18.9%
  • Private sector construction was up 3.3%
  • Public sector construction was up 14.1%.
