JAPAN CURRENT ACCOUNT AND TRADE BALANCE, AUGUST 2023

Month-over-month (August 2023 vs July 2023)

The current account surplus narrowed by ¥1,132 billion to ¥1,635 billion.

  • goods deficit widened by ¥321 billion to ¥436 billion.
  • services deficit widened by ¥293 billion to ¥558 billion.
  • primary income surplus narrowed by ¥576 billion to ¥2,925 billion.
  • secondary income deficit narrowed by ¥58 billion to ¥296 billion.

 

The net goods deficit widened by ¥321 billion to ¥436 billion.

  • goods exports decreased ¥313 billion to ¥8,198 billion.
  • goods imports increased ¥9 billion to ¥8,634 billion.
