UK GDP Q3 2022 (REVISED ESTIMATES)

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) final estimates of UK Gross Domestic Product (seasonally adjusted annualized rate) for Q3 2022 reported a decline 1.2% following a growth of 0.2% in Q2 2022. Compared to pre-pandemic quarter (Q4 2019), the UK economy is 0.8% smaller in Q3 2022.

Services output showed slight growth of 0.1% in Q3 2022. Positive contributions from education, professional, scientific, and technical activities, public administration and defence sectors were offset by large declines in arts, entertainment, and recreation, wholesale and retail trade and other service activities.

Production activity fell by 2.5% in Q3 2022. All 13 manufacturing sectors declined in the third quarter with the largest contributors in transport equipment, basic metals, and food products manufacturers.

Construction output decreased 0.2% in Q3 2022 reflecting a fall in non-housing repair and maintenance, and infrastructure, despite having healthy order books.
