TERANET-NATIONAL BANK HOUSE PRICE INDEX, NOVEMBER 2022

Halifax resale home prices, as measured by the Teranet-National Bank House Price Index (seasonally adjusted), increased 1.6% from October to November 2022. Halifax posted the largest monthly growth in resale home prices among the cities included in the national index. 

The 11-city composite on the Teranet-National Bank House Price Index declined 1.1% in November 2022 compared to October 2022. Monthly home prices declined in all cities except Halifax, Edmonton, and Victoria.

Nova Scotia resale home prices were up 6.3% from November 2021 to November 2022. Nationally, resale home prices (seasonally adjusted) were up 2.1% from November 2021 to November 2022, continuing a sharp deceleration.  

The highest year-over-year gains were recorded in Calgary, Edmonton and Halifax. The only decline was recorded in Hamilton.

Comparing the January-November 2022 period with the same period in 2021, Halifax home prices have averaged 23.0% higher - the highest gain among the urban areas.

Nationally, home prices were up 12.4% in January-November 2022. After Halifax, Hamilton and Victoria posted the highest gains while the smallest increase was in Edmonton.
