US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, NOVEMBER 2022

The United States Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers increased 7.1% year-over-year in November 2022. This was below the 7.7% increase reported in October 2022, and the smallest 12-month increase since the period ending December 2021. 

The seasonally adjusted index increased by 0.1% in November following a 0.4% gain reported in October. The largest upward contribution came from the shelter index offsetting the decline in energy indexes (-1.6%). The index for all items less food and energy increased 0.2% in November.

The 12-month change in the CPI - all items less food and energy was 6.0% in November 2022. Over the past 12 months, the energy index was up 13.1% with gasoline up 10.1%. The food index increased 10.6% and shelter increased 7.1% compared to November 2021. The 12-month increase in all these components were smaller than for the period ending in October.
