US PRODUCTIVITY, Q2 2022 [REVISED]

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics has released revised productivity estimates for the second quarter of 2022. All figures are reported as growth from the previous quarter at seasonally adjusted annualized rates.

Nonfarm business sector labour productivity in the US decreased 4.1%. This is a 0.5 percentage point upward revision from the preliminary estimate of a 4.6-percent decrease. Revised output (upwards by 0.7  percentage points) decreased at an annualized rate of -1.4%. Hours worked increased at an annualized rate of 2.7%. US unit labour costs increased 10.2%, and hourly compensation increased 5.7%. .

Manufacturing sector labour productivity increased 4.7% with output increasing 4.0% and hours worked decreasing 0.7%. Hourly compensation increased 4.5% and Unit labour costs decreased -0.2%. Productivity increased 4.9% for durable goods and increased 5.2% for non-durable goods.
