EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, JULY 2022

Year-over-year (July 2022 vs. July 2021)

The inflation rate moved up to 9.8% in the European Union in July 2022 and was up 8.9% in the Euro Area in July 2022.

 

The fastest inflation was reported in Estonia (+23.2%), Latvia (+21.3%), and Lithuania (+20.9%) and the lowest inflation rates were in Malta and France (both +6.8%).                                                   

Food price inflation increased to 13.2% in the European Union and to 11.8% in the Euro Area.

Energy inflation slowed to 38.3% in the European Union and 39.6% in the Euro Area.

Excluding the impacts of energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices inflation increased to 4.9% in the European Union and 4.0% in the Euro Area in July.
