UK CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, JULY 2022

Year-over-year:  UK Consumer Price Index including owner-occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) rose by 8.8% in July 2022, compared with July 2021. The largest contributions to rising UK inflation came from "housing and household services (principally from electricity, gas and other fuels, and owner occupiers' housing costs), transport (principally motor fuels), and food and non-alcoholic beverages."

Month over month: CPIH and CPI annual inflation rates increased in part due to rising food prices between June and July 2022.

UK inflation has been more volatile than prices in Canada. Over the last year UK prices rose faster than those in Canada, but in recent months, price growth has been similar for the two countries.
