MANUFACTURING SHIPMENTS, MAY 2022

Month over month (seasonally adjusted, May 2022 vs Apr 2022)

Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased 13.5% to $1,021 million. National shipments decreased 2.0% to $71.6 billion.

Manufacturing shipments were up in 5 of 10 provinces, led by Nova Scotia and Manitoba. Prince Edward Island and Ontario reported the largest declines.

 

Year over year (seasonally adjusted, May 2022 vs May 2021)

Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased 21.2%. National shipments increased 22.1%.

Manufacturing shipments were up in 9 of 10 provinces, led by New Brunswick and Saskatchewan. Newfoundland and Labrador was the only province to report a decline.

Year to date (seasonally adjusted, Jan-May 2022 vs Jan-May 2021)

Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments increased 8.5%. National shipments increased 20.9%.

Manufacturing shipments were up in 9 of 10 provinces, led by New Brunswick and Alberta. Newfoundland and Labrador was the only province to report a decline.

 

 

Nova Scotia's durable goods shipments increased 5.9%, while non-durable goods shipments increased 10.0%. In Halifax, durable goods shipments increased 0.9%, while non-durables increased 5.2%. Outside Halifax,  durable goods shipments increased 11.5%, while non-durables increased 11.0%.

Trends 

Nova Scotia's manufacturing shipments were 34.8% higher in May 2022 than in February 2020. National shipments have also been trending upwards and were 26.7% higher in May 2022 when compared to February 2020 levels.
