EU AND EURO AREA UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, MAY 2022

The Euro Area (19 countries) unemployment rate edged down 0.1 percentage point to 6.6% in May 2022, down from 8.1% in May 2021. 

For the broader European Union (27 countries), the unemployment rate was stable at 6.1% in May 2022. In May 2021, the EU27 unemployment rate was 7.3%.

Among major European economies, the unemployment rate was highest in Spain, Italy, and Sweden. The lowest unemployment rates were recorded in Czechia, Poland, and Germany.
