UK UNEMPLOYMENT RATE, JANUARY 2022 TO MARCH 2022

The UK Office for National Statistics reported today that the unemployment rate for the three-month period January 2022 to March 2022 was 3.7%, down (-0.1 percentage points) from the previous three month period.

This is down from the 4.9% reported for the same months a year ago.

The UK unemployment rate has not been lower since May 1974 to July 1974.

There were 1.26 million unemployed people, 396,150 fewer than for a year earlier and the fewest unemployed people since 1975.

Employment was at 32.57 million, 387,656 more compared to a year earlier.
