LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - APRIL 2022

MONTH OVER MONTH (Mar 2022 vs Feb 2022, seasonally adjusted)

In Nova Scotia,

  • Labour force decreased 0.3% (1,500) to 508,300
  • Employment decreased 0.1% (700) to 475,600
  • Unemployment decreased 2.4% (800) to 32,800
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.1 percentage points to 6.5%.

In Canada, 

  • Labour force increased 0.2% (37,100) to 20,685,300
  • Employment increased 0.4% (72,500) to 19,585,200
  • Unemployment decreased 3.1% (35,300) to 1,100,200
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.2 percentage points to 5.3%.

In Halifax,  (3-month moving average) 

  • Labour force decreased 0.2% (500) to 255,600
  • Employment increased 0.1% (200) to 241,800
  • Unemployment decreased 4.1% (600) to 13,900
    Unemployment Rate decreased 0.3 percentage points to 5.4%.

 

YEAR OVER YEAR (Mar 2022 vs Mar 2021, seasonally adjusted)

In Nova Scotia,

  • Labour force decreased 0.3% (1,400)
  • Employment increased 2.1% (10,000)
  • Unemployment decreased 25.6% (11,300)

In Canada,

  • Labour force increased 1.6% (328,600)
  • Employment increased 4.0% (750,800)
  • Unemployment decreased 27.7% (422,000)

In Halifax, (3-month moving average)

  • Labour force decreased 2.7% (7,200)
  • Employment increased 0.2% (500)
  • Unemployment decreased 35.3% (7,600)
