EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, SEPTEMBER 2021

Year-over-year (September 2021 vs September 2020)

The inflation rate moved up 0.4 percentage points to 3.6% in the European Union and moved up 0.4 percentage points to 3.4% in the Euro Area in September 2021.

The fastest inflation was reported in Lithuania, Estonia at 6.4%, and Poland (+5.6%) and the lowest inflation rate was in Malta (+0.7%), Portugal (+1.3%), and Greece (+1.9%). Annual inflation increased in all member states.

Food price inflation moved up to 2.3% in the European Union and remained stable at 1.9% in the Euro Area.                                                                           

Energy inflation moved up to 16.8% in the European Union and moved up to 17.6% in the Euro Area.

Excluding the impacts of volatile energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices inflation moved up to 2.1% in the European Union and moved up to 1.9% in the Euro Area.
