EU AND EURO AREA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, AUGUST 2021

Year-over-year (August 2021 vs August 2020)

The inflation rate moved up 0.7 percentage point to 3.2% in the European Union and moved up 0.8 percentage point to 3.0% in the Euro Area in August 2021.

 

The fastest inflation was reported in Poland, Lithuania, Estonia at 5.0% and the lowest inflation rate was in Malta (+0.4%), Greece (+1.2%) and Portugal (+1.3%). Germany's inflation rate was 3.4% in August 2021. Annual inflation increased in all member states.

Food price inflation moved up to 2.0% in the European Union and moved up to 1.9% in the Euro Area.

Energy inflation moved up to 14.9% in the European Union and moved up to 15.4% in the Euro Area.

Excluding the impacts of volatile energy, food, alcohol and tobacco prices inflation moved up to 1.8% in the European Union and moved up to 1.6% in the Euro Area.
