UK RETAIL SALES, JULY 2021

The UK Office for National Statistics reports that UK retail sales decreased in July 2021. Compared to February 2020, retail sales volume was 5.9% higher and value was 7.5% higher in July 2021.                 

  • Month-over-month (July 2021 vs June 2021) retail sales value decreased 2.3% and retail sales volume (adjusted for price changes) was down 2.5%.
  • Year-over-year (July 2021 vs July 2021) retail sales value increased 5.4% and retail sales volume increased 2.4%.
  • Year-to-date (Jan-Jul 2021 vs Jan-Jul 2020) retail sales value was up 10.4% and volume increased 9.4%. 

 

 

 

Internet sales

  • Online retail sales increased by 0.3% in July 2021 when compared with June 2021.
  • In July 2021, online sales share of all retail sales increased to 27.9% from 27.1% in June 2021. Online sales share of all retail sales remains higher than the 19.8% in February 2020.
