EU AND EURO AREA TRADE BALANCE IN GOODS, APRIL 2020

EURO AREA

In April 2020, the Euro Area (EA19) Goods Trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a surplus of €2.9 billion compared to March 2020.

From March 2020 to April 2020:

  • The Euro Area (EA19) Export Trade decreased €57.3 billion (-29.6%) to €136.6 billion.
  • The Euro Area (EA19) Import Trade decreased €31.3 billion (-18.9%) to €133.7 billion.

 

EUROPEAN UNION

In April 2020, the European Union (EU27) Goods Trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the rest of the world recorded a surplus of €0.2 billion compared to March 2020.

From March 2020 to April 2020:

  • The European Union (EU27) Export Trade decreased €50.6 billion (-28.8%) to €125.4 billion .
  • The European Union (EU27) Import Trade decreased €23.6 billion (-15.9%) to €125.1 billion .

 

The UK left the European Union as of January 31, 2020.  In April 2020, the European Union (EU27) Goods Trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United Kingdom recorded a surplus of €3.4 billion.

From March 2020 to April 2020:

  • The European Union (EU27) Export Trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United Kingdom decreased €11.3 billion (-43.15%) to €15.0 billion.
  • The European Union (EU27) Import Trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United Kingdom decreased €3.4 billion (-22.5%) to €11.6 billion.

 

In April 2020, the European Union (EU27) Goods Trade (not seasonally adjusted) with Canada recorded a surplus of €1.0 billion compared to March 2020. In April 2020, the European Union (EU27) Goods Trade (not seasonally adjusted) with the United States recorded a surplus of €6.4 billion compared to March 2020.
