US CONSTRUCTION SPENDING, NOVEMBER 2019

In November 2019, US construction spending (seasonally adjusted annual rate) increased 0.6 per cent to $1,324 billion. This follows a revised gain of 0.1 per cent reported in October 2019, when construction spending totaled $1,317 billion. Total Residential construction increased 1.8 per cent to $543 billion. Total Non-residential construction spending decreased 0.3 per cent to $781 billion. 

Year-over-year, total spending is 4.1 per cent above November 2018. 

Private sector construction increased 0.4 per cent to $985 billion, and is up 1.6 per cent over November 2018.

  • Private Residential construction increased 1.9 per cent to $536 billion, and is up 2.7 per cent over November 2018.
  • Private Non-residential construction spending decreased 1.2 per cent to $449 billion, and increased 0.2 per cent over November 2018.

 Public sector construction increased 0.9 per cent to $339 billion, and is up 12.4 per cent over November 2018.

  • Public Residential construction decreased 1.3 per cent to $7 billion, and is up 14.7 per cent over November 2018.
  • Public Non-residential construction spending increased 0.9 per cent to $332 billion, and up 12.4 per cent over November 2018.

Year-to-date (January-November 2019), US construction spending is down 0.8 per cent over January-November 2018.

  • Private sector construction is down 3.1 per cent.
  • Public sector construction is up 6.9 per cent .
  • Total Residential construction is down 5.5 per cent .
  • Total Non-residential construction is up 2.7 per cent .
