LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - NOVEMBER 2019

In Nova Scotia November 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour force decreased 0.4 per cent (1,900) from October 2019 to 506,400 and increased 2.8 per cent (13,900) over November 2018
  • Employment decreased 0.1 per cent (700) from October 2019 to 466,800 and increased 2.0 per cent (9,000) over November 2018
  • Unemployment decreased 3.2 per cent (1,300) from October 2019 to 39,600 and increased 14.1 per cent (4,900) over November 2018
  • Unemployment Rate decreased 0.2 percentage points from October 2019 to 7.8 per cent.

 In Canada November 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour force remains virtually unchanged (500) from October 2019 at 20,286,500 and increased 1.8 per cent (362,200) over November 2018
  • Employment decreased 0.4 per cent (71,200) from October 2019 to 19,092,200 and increased 1.6 per cent (292,900) over November 2018
  • Unemployment increased 6.4 per cent (71,600) from October 2019 to 1,194,300 and increased 6.2 per cent (69,300) over November 2018
  • Unemployment Rate increased 0.4 percentage points from October 2019 to 5.9 per cent.

In Halifax November 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour force decreased 0.4 per cent (1,000) from October 2019 to 257,200 and increased 2.3 per cent (5,700) over November 2018
  • Employment decreased 0.5 per cent (1,100) from October 2019 to 241,800 and increased 2.3 per cent (5,500) over November 2018
  • Unemployment remains virtually unchanged (0) from October 2019 at 15,300 and increased 0.7 per cent (100) over November 2018
  • Unemployment Rate remains virtually unchanged from October 2019 at 5.9 per cent
