August 09, 2019LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - JULY 2019 In Nova Scotia July 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force decreased 0.5 per cent (-2,400) from June 2019 to 498,900 and increased 1.2 per cent (5,700) over July 2018
- Employment decreased 1.3 per cent (-6,200) from June 2019 to 462,200 and increased 1.9 per cent (8,400) over July 2018
- Unemployment increased 11.6 per cent (3,800) from June 2019 to 36,700 and decreased 6.6 per cent (-2,600) over July 2018
- Unemployment Rate increased 0.8 percentage points from June 2019 to 7.4 per cent.
In Canada July 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force increased 0.1 per cent (11,200) from June 2019 to 20,180,300 and increased 1.7 per cent (342,300) over July 2018
- Employment decreased 0.1 per cent (-24,200) from June 2019 to 19,030,400 and increased 1.9 per cent (353,000) over July 2018
- Unemployment increased 3.2 per cent (35,500) from June 2019 to 1,149,900 and decreased 0.9 per cent (-10,700) over July 2018
- Unemployment Rate increased 0.2 percentage points from June 2019 to 5.7 per cent.
In Halifax July 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour force increased 0.6 per cent (1,500) from June 2019 to 257,800 and increased 3.3 per cent (8,300) over July 2018
- Employment increased 0.6 per cent (1,400) from June 2019 to 244,400 and increased 4.7 per cent (11,000) over July 2018
- Unemployment increased 0.8 per cent (100) from June 2019 to 13,400 and decreased 16.8 per cent (-2,700) over July 2018
- Unemployment Rate remains virtually unchanged from June 2019 at 5.2 per cent
