LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - JUNE 2019

In Nova Scotia June 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour force decreased 0.1 per cent (300) from May 2019 to 501,300 and increased 1.9 per cent (9,400) over June 2018
  • Employment decreased 0.1 per cent (500) from May 2019 to 468,400 and increased 3.4 per cent (15,400) over June 2018
  • Unemployment increased 0.3 per cent (100) from May 2019 to 32,900 and decreased 15.4 per cent (6,000) over June 2018
  • Unemployment Rate increased 0.1 percentage points from May 2019 to 6.6 per cent.

 

In Canada June 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):

  • Labour force increased 0.2 per cent (30,500) from May 2019 to 20,169,100 and increased 1.7 per cent (342,600) over June 2018
  • Employment was virtually unchanged (-2,200) from May 2019 at 19,054,600 and increased 2.3 per cent (421,100) over June 2018
  • Unemployment increased 3.0 per cent (32,600) from May 2019 to 1,114,400 and decreased 6.6 per cent (78,500) over June 2018
  • Unemployment Rate increased 0.1 percentage points from May 2019 to 5.5 per cent.

 

In Halifax June 2019, (3 month moving average, seasonally adjusted):

  • Labour force increased 1.5 per cent (3,900) from May 2019 to 256,300 and increased 3.1 per cent (7,700) over June 2018
  • Employment increased 1.6 per cent (3,800) from May 2019 to 243,000 and increased 4.0 per cent (9,400) over June 2018
  • Unemployment increased 0.8 per cent (100) from May 2019 to 13,300 and decreased 10.7 per cent (1,600) over June 2018
  • Unemployment Rate remains virtually unchanged from May 2019 at 5.2 per cent
