June 07, 2019LABOUR FORCE SURVEY - MAY 2019 In Nova Scotia May 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour Force increased 0.6 per cent (2,800) from April 2019 to 501,600 and increased 2.3 per cent (11,300) over May 2018.
- Employment increased 1.0 per cent (4,500) from April 2019 to 468,900 and increased 3.2 per cent (14,600) over May 2018.
- Unemployment decreased 4.7 per cent (-1,600) from April 2019 to 32,800 and decreased 8.9 per cent (-3,200) over May 2018.
- Unemployment rate decreased 0.4 percentage points from April 2019 to 6.5 per cent.
In Canada May 2019, (seasonally adjusted, month-over-month and year-over-year):
- Labour Force decreased 0.2 per cent (-49,200) from April 2019 to 20,138,600 and increased 1.9 per cent (377,200) over May 2018.
- Employment increased 0.1 per cent (27,700) from April 2019 to 19,056,800 and increased 2.4 per cent (453,100) over May 2018.
- Unemployment decreased 6.6 per cent (-76,900) from April 2019 to 1,081,800 and decreased 6.6 per cent (-75,900) over May 2018.
- Unemployment rate decreased 0.3 percentage points from April 2019 to 5.4 per cent.
In Halifax May 2019, (3 month moving average, seasonally adjusted):
- Labour Force increased 1.1% (2,700) from April 2019 to 252,400 and increased 1.7% (4,300) over May 2018.
- Employment increased 0.9% (2,200) from April 2019 to 239,200 and increased 2.3% (5,300) over May 2018.
- Unemployment increased 3.9% (500) from April 2019 to 13,200 and decreased 7.7% (-1,100) over May 2018.
- Unemployment rate increased 0.1 percentage points from April 2019 to 5.2%.
