CANADA INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE, APRIL 2019

In April 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), deficit $966.2 million. Exports are up 1.3% to $50.7 billion over March 2019, and are up 3.5% over April 2018. Imports are down 1.4% to $51.7 billion over March 2019, and are up 2.3% over April 2018.

YEAR-TO-DATE

In the period Jan-Apr 2019, the year-to-date Canadian merchandise trade deficit reached $10.2 billion. Year-to-date goods Exports were valued at $196.7 billion and  year-to-date goods Imports were valued at $206.9 billion.

 

TRADE PARTNERS

In April 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), surplus with the United States narrowed to $4.2 billion.

In April 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), deficit with China narrowed to $1.8 billion.

In April 2019, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), deficit with the European Union narrowed to $1.3 billion.
