NEW HOUSING PRICE INDEX, MARCH 2019

In Nova Scotia, the price of new housing remained unchanged in March 2019. The national index was also unchanged, month to month.

In Nova Scotia, new housing prices were 0.6 per cent higher than they were in March 2018. National new housing prices rose 0.1 per cent, year over year.                                  

Year to date, Nova Scotia new housing prices were up 0.9 per cent in the first quarter of 2019.  National new housing prices were unchanged in January-March 2019.  Quebec saw the fastest growth in new housing prices at 1.9 per cent. The largest decline was in Saskatchewan where new housing prices fell 1.2 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2018.

Census Metropolitan Areas

Year to date, price growth among Census Metropolitan Areas was fastest in Ottawa, London, Windsor and Montreal.  New housing prices declined the most in Regina, Toronto, and Oshawa.
