US CONSUMER PRICE INDEX, FEBRUARY 2019

The US Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers was up 0.2 per cent in February compared to January. This month, the energy index rose 0.4 per cent, as the gasoline index rose 1.5 per cent, following three months of declines. The indexes for all items less food and energy was up 0.1 per cent, and the food index rose 0.4 per cent monthly.        

Year over year (February 2019 compared to February 2018) consumer prices were up 1.5 per cent (not seasonally adjusted), with the shelter costs up 3.4 per cent, food prices up 2.0 per cent, and energy prices down 5.0 per cent. The all items less food and energy index rose 2.1 per cent, year over year.
