CANADA INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE, DECEMBER AND ANNUAL 2018

DECEMBER 2018

In December 2018, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted) deficit was $4.6 billion.

Exports are down 3.8 per cent to $46.3 billion over November 2018, and are down 0.9 per cent over December 2017.  Imports are up 1.6 per cent to $50.9 billion over November 2018, and are up 2.2 per cent over December 2017.

In December 2018, the Canadian merchandise trade (balance of payment basis, seasonally adjusted), surplus with the United States narrowed to $1,780.0 millions.

ANNUAL

In 2018, the Canadian merchandise trade deficit reached $21.7 billion .

Annual goods Exports were valued at $585.4 billion and annual Imports were valued at $607.1 billion.
